Aston Villa makes major squad changes for the upcoming season

New signings and departures

Aston Villa has been busy in the transfer market this summer, making a number of high-profile signings and departures. The most notable arrival is Philippe Coutinho, who joined from Barcelona on a permanent deal. The Brazilian midfielder has been a key player for Villa since his arrival, scoring three goals in his first six appearances. Villa has also signed Diego Carlos from Sevilla, Boubacar Kamara from Marseille, and Ludwig Augustinsson from Sevilla.

Among the players who have left Villa this summer are Matt Targett, who joined Newcastle United, and Trezeguet, who moved to Trabzonspor. Villa has also loaned out a number of players, including Anwar El Ghazi, who joined Everton, and Keinan Davis, who joined Watford.

Squad composition

Villa's squad now has a good mix of experience and youth. Coutinho, Carlos, and Kamara are all established internationals, while Augustinsson and Carney Chukwuemeka are both highly-rated young players. Villa also has a number of promising academy graduates in their squad, including Jacob Ramsey and Jaden Philogene-Bidace.

Villa's squad is now well-equipped to challenge for a top-half finish in the Premier League this season. The team has a good balance of experience and youth, and they have added some real quality to their squad in the transfer market. It will be interesting to see how Villa performs this season, but they certainly have the potential to be a force to be reckoned with.
