Fulham Football Club: A History

The Early Years

Fulham Football Club was founded in 1879 by members of the Church of England in West Kensington, London. The club's first game was played on October 29, 1879, against the Barnes Football Club at Lillie Bridge. Fulham won the match 2-0.

In 1888, Fulham joined the Football League, becoming one of the founding members of the Second Division. The club spent the next decade in the Second Division, before finally being promoted to the First Division in 1896.

Craven Cottage

In 1896, Fulham moved to their new home ground, Craven Cottage. The ground is located on the banks of the River Thames, and has been the club's home ever since.

Craven Cottage is one of the most iconic football grounds in England. It has been the setting for many famous matches, including Fulham's 3-0 victory over Manchester United in the 1975 FA Cup Final.

The Modern Era

In recent years, Fulham has been a yo-yo club, bouncing between the Premier League and the Championship. The club has won the Championship twice, in 2001 and 2014.

Fulham is currently playing in the Premier League. The club is managed by Scott Parker, and is captained by Tom Cairney.
