Tottenham Were Keen On Landing Barcelonas Euro 2024 Star Earlier This Summer

Tottenham's chase for Demir ends with Barcelona move

North London club suffer transfer blow as highly-rated teenager pens long-term deal at Camp Nou instead

Demir opted to remain in Spain with Barcelona, despite strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur have failed in their pursuit of Barcelona youngster Demir, with the 18-year-old winger signing a new long-term contract at Camp Nou.

Spurs had been heavily linked with a move for Demir this summer, with the north London club keen to add more depth to their attacking options. However, the player has ultimately decided to remain in Spain, where he is highly rated by Barcelona manager Xavi.

Demir made his first-team debut for Barcelona last season, and he impressed with his performances in the Copa del Rey. He also played a key role in Barcelona's victorious UEFA Youth League campaign, scoring four goals in the competition.

Tottenham will be disappointed to miss out on Demir, but they are likely to continue their search for a new winger. The club has been linked with a number of other players in recent weeks, including Raphinha of Leeds United and Richarlison of Everton.

Meanwhile, Barcelona will be delighted to have secured the future of one of their most promising young talents. Demir is seen as a potential future star for the club, and he is expected to play a major role in the years to come.
